"I just finished my SECOND pie class at A la Mode last week. This session was fruit pies. It was an amazing experience. I left there full of knowledge ready to tackle three different seasonal fruit pies. The instructor was highly knowledgeable, extremely professional, possessed a wealth of helpful tips and super nice. The organization and structure of the class was smooth and coordinated. The evening was a great mixture of learning and entertainment. Plus, the hands-on nature of the class made it immeasurably better than reading a cookbook or watching a tutorial. The atmosphere of A la Mode was quaint, casual, and fun. The vibrancy of the area and popularity of the pie shop shows with the constant stream of people coming in to savor all those delicious pies! If you have any doubts about making/baking pies, this is the class to take."
Jill Samuelson (Seattle, WA)
"This class was great and the owner/instructor was amazing and so generous. Would recommend to others and take the class again."
Karen Nakagawa (Seattle, WA)
"Extremely well run class with perfect mix of listening, action, and watching others. Perfectly paced so you were engaged the whole time without feeling rushed. Instructor had all the minutia worked out ahead of time for us so we could do the fun/important stuff. Funny, informative, supportive, encouraging instructor. Didn't skimp on pie samplings or drinks or ice cream. Perfect for my daughter and me to have a fun and educational evening. 3 pie choices was perfect. The space seemed tight but really, it worked out well and was cozy. I think they've got this thing down. I really have nothing to complain about which is weird."
Janet B. (Bothell, WA)
"Wow! I attended a "two hour pie-making & tasting" class last night! Now, I know one of the secrets of yummy crust is butter AND lard. The class was informative and fun. Chris has a wonderful style not only in his pies but also in how he shares is secrets of yumminess. Not only did we actually make the pies (peach, spiced apple, or marionberry hazelnut), we tasted whatever we wanted, sipped coffee and went home with our pie and a pint of ice cream. Best pie shop in Seattle? Oh YEAH!!!!"
Kathy Ragan (Seattle, WA)
"This was the best class I've ever taken! I will be back for their cream pie class in early Winter. Loved it!"
Kathryn Denzin (Seattle, WA)
"It was a pie making class, and the other 7 students and I had a great, hands-on experience. Chris, owner of AlaMode and pie baker extrordinaire, was a hoot and made the evening very enjoyable. Plus I have a beautiful peach pie that I baked and brought home. Great event."
David Lutz (Seattle, WA)
"This was a great event. Chris was very patient and gave us excellent tips on pie making and particularly the crust, I can't wait to try it at home. The pie tasting was outstanding!"
